Title : Operation Peacekeeper v0.1D Released Topic : BF2 Mods Publisher : Widowmaker Publish date : 2006/5/4 7:23:38 Rating : 0.0000 Reads : 2 Content : Hello Community! At the BFCon06 we showed you the first playable BF2-version of Operation Peacekeeper; today the official demo version of Operation Peacekeeper will be released! It took us very much time and work to reach the level we are on now. Since this release will definately not be the end of our work but the beginning we want to show you what we have planned to do in the future: The version you will be able to download is a public demo version. It does not represent the whole content of the mod which will increase steadily within the next months. We had a week-long interruption in our news, while FileFront performed necessary maintenance, but we hope this week’s update will prove to have been worth the wait. Today’s first item, the Hawker Hurricane was the main fighter of the RAF through the early stages of World War II. Most of the German planes shot down by British aircraft during the Battle of Britain were downed by Hurricanes, which while slower than the newer Supermarine Spitfire, was highly resistant to damage, maneuverable, and perhaps most importantly, was available in much larger numbers. As more Spitfires became available, Hurricanes were gradually replaced as a frontline fighter, and many were relegated to more specialized roles such as ground attack. Over 14,000 Hurricanes were built during the war. The version shown today is a Hurricane Mark IIC, which entered service early in 1941. The IICs were equipped with an improved Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine, which gave a maximum speed of about 334 miles per hour, and carried four Hispano-Suiza 20 mm cannon. The Hurricane Mark IIC was modeled and skinned by Lobo. Later today we will announce the Battlefield 2: Armored Fury™ booster pack for Battlefield 2™ which brings all-out mechanized battles to US soil for the first time. Maps set in the US have been requested by the community for quite some time, and we are pleased to deliver three that set the stage for huge armored warfare battles. 3 NEW MAPS Operation Midnight Sun: The conflict spreads near the Pacific Ocean in a key battle for the Alaskan port of Valdez, where Chinese forces are attempting to secure much-needed fuel from the pipeline. Operation Harvest: The MEC army begins their march East towards the U.S. Capital, and American forces must stall the advance long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Operation Road Rage: The MEC forces have infiltrated deep into the USA, and are using the highways to move quickly towards key industrial sites that are dangerously near civilian areas. To balance the wide-open tank battles with aerial firepower, six new vehicles will be introduced, including 3 scout helos such as the MD 530 ?Little Bird?, and 3 ground attack aircraft like the A10 Warthog. In addition, patch 1.3 is on the way, and with it comes single player co-op support, so you can grab a friend and tackle the bots as a team. More details to follow, so stay frosty! Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release: NEW FEATURESCo-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game. Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location. BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKSPrevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash. Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play. Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets. Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target. Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack! Today we only have one thing to show off, but we think it deserves its own update! The StuG Ausf G ingame! It was modeled by LeJules, skinned by Postman778, coded by Starforce (OPK), and the WIP map it`s on and screenshots were taken by Benseras. Sturmgeschutz III Ausf G Armament: One 75mm L/48 gun, one or two MG34s Ammo: 54 75mm and 600 7.92mm Armor: Maximum 80mm, Minimum 11mm Crew:4 Speed: Road, 40km/h (24.9mph) Range: Road, 155km (96.3 miles) The Sturmgeschutz III was among many new concepts introduced by the German Army: the self propelled assault gun. It was built onto the suspension and drive train of the PanzerIII, but with a low armored superstructure mounting a limited traverse short 75mm gun directly into the hull. Later versions like the Ausf G mounted a higher velocity L/48 main gun that made it capable of engaging enemy tanks, as well as a defensive MG to deal with infantry. Late production Ausf Gs were equipped with a coax MG. With its low height the StuG was ideal for ambushes, but later in the war it was increasingly called upon to fill the role of a tank to which it wasn`t ideally suited. Still it served the German Army well and when wisely used it was a formidable weapon, causing several other armies - both Allied and Axis - to make similar assault guns. In today's news update we have more information about the development process of Forgotten Hope 2. We have a brand new model, fresh from the prototype facility and an improved version that has just arrived at the front lines, ingame. In addition, we are very happy to announce the return of yet another prodigal dev to the FH team. Join us in giving AaronAsh a warm welcome back! The first item could be considered the backbone of the German "Panzerwaffe" in the first two years of the war. The vehicle we speak of is the Sonderkraftfahrzeug 121, better known as Panzerkampfwagen II. Although it was actually no more than a stopgap tank, because of delays in the design and production of the Panzer III and Panzer IV, it became the main battle tank of the panzer divisions beginning with the invasion of France (displacing the earlier stopgap Panzerkampfwagen I, in that role). The SdKfz 121 was based on the chassis of the PzKpfw I and its 20mm KwK 30 L/55 main gun in combination with an MG34 was far more effective than the dual 7.92mm MG34 with which the PzKpfw I was equipped. Maximum speed and armor were slightly increased as well. But, as a stopgap tank design, it was largely removed from the frontline as soon as sufficient numbers of PzKpfw IIIs and PzKpfw IVs were available. Afterwards, it served at secondary fronts for patrolling and reconnaissance, in which roles it was used to great effect. Over a thousand Ausf C versions of the PzKpfw II were produced from 1938 through 1940, making it the most numerous of all PzKpfw II variants. The PzKpfw II Ausf C was modeled by Lude and skinned by AaronAsh. Well this past weekend was a very good one for my family, and for the sites that I currently host. My father-in-law had his prostate removed because of cancer, and the doctors seemed to think that they got all of the cancerous tissue. Thank the Lord! Remotewarrior generously donated a couple servers that were a very nice upgrade to a couple of the machines that I was using for hosting purposes. The server that was being used to serve the sigs and to update the stats and trend stats WAS a pentium II 300, with only 128mb of ram. That server was replaced with one of the new machines. The sig/stat/stat trends server is now a quad xeon 450 with 2 gigs of ram. I think that should help out considerably. The firewall is also being upgraded from a dual ppro 200 to a dual pII 450. That will help with the network security for sure. The machine that was the firewall will now become the domain controller. There is alot of hardware swapping going on right now, but I try to keep the site up and running while all of this happens. If anything the sig server will be the only one that you will notice being down. It will only be down for 10-20 min. at a time though. The modem was also replaced with a new one. I think that the old one (5 years of age), was going out. It was at the end of its lifespan. As soon as the server closet is cleaned up I will post pics of all the new equipment. All of the servers are now 100% Compaq Proliant. Thanks to all for their generous donations of $$ or equipment. It is all being put to good use. Topic : BF2 Updates Publisher : Widowmaker Publish date : 2005/10/4 5:39:22 Rating : 0.0000 Reads : 2 Content : It seems that IGN has posted a review of the upcoming patch for BF2. Here is a tidbit of what it has to say about it, and the new map, Wake Island. In the world of multiplayer shooters, the Battlefield series has managed to hold its own against the likes of UT 2004 and Joint Operations. Unlike JO, it offers vehicles that allow the driver to control a weapon, and snipers don't have as easy of a time. Unlike UT 2004, the maps are much bigger -- huge, in fact, although that's more a matter of taste than quality. Also unlike UT, the damage model is much more realistic. However, it hasn't been all wine and roses for Battlefield 2, which launched with a handful of quirks and missing-in-action features us shooter fans have gotten used to. The latest patch serves to address those issues, and EA granted us some advanced access to the new content today, much to our joy. The highest airspeed possible without damaging the engines is Mach 2.8, although without special permission Mach 2.5 is the highest possible. The only western fighter that can reach such an high airspeed is the F-15 Eagle, although the F-15 is limited to Mach 2.5 which enables the Mig-25 to out speed it. Enough talking, let the pictures speak. Also, we would like to welcome our newest modeller to the team, IRONHEAD, welcome mate.
